Pear Care Tips
- Let them ripen at room temperature, keeping pears on the counter (not in the fridge). They’ll ripen naturally over 3–5 days.
- Gently press the neck (just below the stem). When it gives slightly, your pear is ready to enjoy! Remember—pear color doesn’t always change, so check daily.
- Once ripe, move your pears to the crisper drawer in the fridge. They’ll stay fresh and delicious for up to a week – pears handle refrigeration well once ripe!
- Enjoy soon!

Autumn Fruit FAQ
Pears are a wonderful fruit to store, and if you keep them refrigerated they can last for weeks!
Our Oregon pears are grown in the foothills of Mount Hood, one of the most amazing places to grow fruit. It has a perfect climate for growing pears featuring rich volcanic soil, glacial springs, cool nights and warm days. The Hood River Valley is home to many small family-owned orchards known as the “Fruit Loop,” including our partner farm.
We offer a ‘Winter Mix’ pear box to sample varieties such as Comice, Warren, Bosc, Taylor’s Gold, Concorde and more. These are called ‘Winter’ varieties because they harvest later in the growing season than the earliest pear varieties.
