It’s the largest citrus grown on Earth, and kicks off our citrus season. Much less acidic than a grapefruit but with a similar flavor, the pummelo is a nutritional powerhouse.
Winter Haven, Florida
With its subtropical temperatures, abundant sunshine, distinctive sandy soil and ample rainfall, Florida offers everything needed to produce fantastic citrus. This helps our pummelos grow to their gigantic size!
Our pummelos are grown by fourth-generation grower Noble Citrus. Noble Citrus takes great pride in their citrus, from environmentally friendly growing practices to sorting and washing the fruit by hand before packing.
Like many of our multi-generational partner farms, Noble Citrus has an attention for detail and quality that makes their citrus something special.
Pummelos need lots of sunshine and heat to grow to the size they do. And when it comes time to harvest, pummelos must be hand-clipped from the trees so as not to damage the fruit.
Citrus that makes it way to the grocery store is usually weeks or months old, after having been picked too early. This is great for shelf life, but terrible for flavor. Worse yet, citrus fruits can be artificially colored!
Our pummelos are carefully grown, never artificially colored. And we never keep them in cold storage, we deliver to you within days of harvest for the best flavor possible!
Perfect timing means perfect fruit.
All our fruit is “tree ripened” allowing it to stay on the tree longer giving it richer, sweeter flavor. Most grocery store fruit is picked too early and stored for weeks or even months. Our fruit is picked and delivered directly to you within days of harvest – you’ll taste the difference.
Our Starburst pummleo harvest takes place November each year. Pre-orders begin in October, and we only harvest what is needed for our orders.
We ship our Starburst pummelos directly to your home, or to your friends and family nationwide!
