Oregon Mountain Rose Apples

Mountain Rose apples are among the most unique you’ll ever see. Sweet and tart, its flavor is reminiscent of pink lemonade. And of course, the beautifully pink interior will turn your favorite apple recipes into works of art!

Oregon is truly the perfect climate for apples. Rich volcanic soil, cool nights and warm days provide an ideal growing environment for our apple trees. The Hood River Valley is home to many small family-owned orchards known as the “Fruit Loop,” including our incredible partner Kiyokawa Family Orchards.

Kiyokawa Family Orchards

Our Oregon Mountain Rose apples are grown by Kiyokawa Family Orchards led by third generation orchardist Randy Kiyokawa. Randy’s grandfather emigrated from Japan in 1905 and started farming in the Hood River Valley in 1911.

Randy and his entire family have dedicated their lives to their craft and to growing amazing fruit, including rare and hard-to-grow varieties like the Mountain Rose apple.

Harvest Season

The apple trees bud in spring and develop through the summer, before harvesting in October. The Mountain Rose apple is also unique because it has to remain on the tree longer to fully develop it’s sweetness, which happens in the final days before being picked.

Taste the difference

Apples refrigerate very well, but unfortunately this has led to most grocery stores keeping apples in cold storage for months and months. This leads to mealy apples.

The Mountain Rose apple is very sensitive to becoming mealy from cold storage, so it rarely even makes it to the grocery store. That’s why we deliver them within days of harvest.

Perfect timing means perfect fruit.

All our fruit is “tree ripened” allowing it to stay on the tree longer giving it richer, sweeter flavor. Most grocery store fruit is picked too early and stored for weeks or even months. Our fruit is picked and delivered directly to you within days of harvest – you’ll taste the difference.

Delivered in Fall

Our Mountain Rose apples are harvested in October each year. Pre-orders begin in September, and we only harvest what is needed for our orders.

We offer them in a 13 count gift box because there is always limited supply for this beautiful apple. Then, we deliver our Mountain Rose apples directly to your home, or to your friends and family nationwide!
