Ginger Pear Pie

  • 1 frozen pie crust or make your own with our pie crust recipe
  • 4-5 firm pears
  • 1 to 3 t freshly grated ginger (adjust to your taste, we used 3)
  • 1/2 c brown sugar
  • 1/2 t cinnamon
  • 1 t almond extract
  • 1 T flour (can use gf)
  • pinch of salt
  1. Preheat oven to 380°
  2. Peel and chop pears. Mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and stir in with pears. Stir in the ginger and almond extract, mix well so ginger is evenly distributed.
  3. Fill bottom pie crust with pear filling, cover with top crust, crimp edges and vent with sharp knife.
  4. Bake for 50-60 minutes.

Kitchen tip: bake on a cookie sheet to catch juicy spills. Check after 30 minutes and use a piece of foil to cover the edges of the crust if it starts to get too brown before the baking time is completed.

Let cool before slicing, or store in fridge
