Honey Cake

This recipe features our raw honey from Wisconsin available every Summer Fall and Winter. 🍯


Cake Ingredients 

▪4 large eggs

▪½ cup brown sugar

▪1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

▪1/3 cup vegetable oil

▪1/3 cup orange juice

▪1 teaspoon vanilla extract

▪½ cup water

▪1 ¼ cups honey

▪2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

▪2 teaspoons kosher salt

▪1 teaspoon baking powder

▪½ teaspoon baking soda

Glaze Ingredients 

▪1 ½ tablespoons water

▪1 teaspoon vanilla extract

▪¼ teaspoon kosher salt

▪1 cup confectioners’ sugar


  1. Heat oven to 325 degrees and grease cake pan and lightly dust greased cake pan with flour.
  2. In a large bowl whisk egg, brown sugar, unsweetened applesauce, vegetable oil, orange juice, vanilla extract, and ½ cup water until combined.
  3. Slowly add honey to mixture while continuing to whisk.
  4. In a separate bowl whisk flour, 2 teaspoons kosher salt, baking powder, and baking soda until combined.
  5. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and whisk thoroughly.
  6. Pour batter into pan and bake for 50-60 minutes until the cake is a deep golden brown. The cake is done when a toothpick is inserted in the center and is removed with little crumb. 
  7. Cool cake in pan on rack for 30 minutes. Invert cake from pan onto rack and cool for 2 additional hours.
  8. Whisk 1 ½ tablespoons water, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, ¼ teaspoon kosher salt, and confectioners’ sugar for glaze.
  9. Pour glaze on cake and let it firm for 15 minutes. Slice and serve.
