Pear Bread

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Oregon pears peeled cored and chopped (any variety will work but Bosc or Concord work best!) 
  • 1/2 cup chopped raw Georgia pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 9×5 loaf pan with cooking spray. 
  2. In a small skillet, toast pecans for 5 minutes on medium heat. 
  3. Whisk together oil, sugar, and eggs. Stir in pears, pecans and vanilla. Set aside. 
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. 
  5. Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients, be sure not to over-mix. 
  6. Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted to the middle of the loaf comes out clean. 
  7. Cool bread for 20 minutes in pan, remove from pan and let cool completely for 2 hours. 
  8. Serve with our honey butter and enjoy!
