Spring News | March 2025

Spring News
Are you as excited about spring as we are? It’s always an exciting season for us as we begin planning for peach season. However, in recent years, we’ve been able to offer some incredible citrus during the spring, and that’s the plan again for 2025. While we’re still working towards our goal of in-person Spring visits, however, we do not anticipate any in-person visits with citrus this spring.

One new addition for this season? We hope to have select, limited visits with Georgia strawberries in late spring. As always, we will keep you updated and let you know as soon as we have more information!

Our spring citrus lineup is available for home delivery only and includes:

California Heirloom Navel Oranges
We’ve been truly impressed by the quality of these California Navels! They are sweet, juicy, and have the classic ‘orange-y’ flavor. As an heirloom variety, they come from older trees and the original Washington Navel rootstock. Some of these trees are nearly 100 years old!

California Cara Cara Oranges
Cara Cara oranges are a specialty Navel variety, often called a ‘red Navel.’ Their flesh is pink, and like traditional Navels, they’re sweet and easy to eat. However, they have a unique flavor profile with notes of rose, strawberry, blackberry, and other fruits.

California Organic Meyer Lemons
Meyer lemons are a cross between regular (Eureka) lemons and mandarins. Compared to typical lemons, Meyer lemons are lower in acidity, with a stronger lemony aroma and taste. Plus, they’re visually stunning! And we’re excited to share that ours are now certified organic!

Farm Share Spring Box
Our CSA-style mixed box features the best fruit of the spring season, including approximately 18 lbs of fruit and a jar of our Gooseberry jam. As a special treat, this box also includes California Blood oranges! With our Spring Farm Share box, you’ll enjoy seasonal eating, try new varieties, and support family farms at the same time.

Our Georgia pecans and Jam 3-packs will also be available. Pre-ordering is open until February 28th, and we expect to begin shipping orders on March 10th. To guarantee you receive your citrus, be sure to place your pre-order soon!

News from down on the Farm!
California
We’ve had a number of questions regarding the wildfires in California and if they have affected the regions where our fruit is grown. Fortunately for our farms, they have not been affected. Our closest grower is in San Diego county, almost 100 miles away. Of course, our hearts go out to everyone affected by the fires.

Georgia
We’re close to wrapping our ‘cold season’ in peach country. The trees have gotten almost 900 cold hours, which is well above the minimum we hope to have. We may even add a few more hours yet this month. Then as spring arrives, we’ll switch gears and hope for the exact opposite – warmer temperatures! Usually by April we’ll know if we’ve escaped with no frost damage. Fingers crossed! 🍑
